A/Prof. Aaron Elbourne

PhD(Chemistry), Bachelor of Science(Hons I)/Bachelor of Teaching

Aaron is a successful Associate Professor, qualified science teacher, tertiary educator, student mentor, scientific communicator, and team leader. He has over 10 years experience in the academic industry, having transitioned from PhD student, postdoctoral research fellow, and through to research group leader. He is well versed in project management, industry collaboration, and mentoring young professionals. 

He is passionate about helping people realise their potential, and finding meaningful jobs either within academia or beyond.

Aaron has sat on hiring panels, held continuous research funding, worked with industrial partners, liaised with private companies, and spoken at numerous professional events. He understands the modern job market, the issues surrounding career transitions, and how to best position yourself for success. He has mentored many students and early career researchers. In his spare time, Aaron enjoys spending time with friends, a strong (Melbourne made) latte, a grapefruit garnished gin and tonic, and spending time with his cat.

Dr. Madeleine Dupont

PhD (Chemistry), Graduate Certificate (Data Science), Bachelor of Science (Hons I)

Madeleine began her career as a research academic after finishing her PhD in Chemistry. After completing two postdoctoral positions, she decided to take her career in a new direction and now works as an intelligence analyst in cybersecurity.  She understands how difficult it can be to change careers, particularly leaving an academic career, but believes that it can be a great step for realising your true career potential.
